Party Cannon has released a new single titled “Improper Use Of A Speculum” that seems to evoke curiosity and reluctance simultaneously. The Scottish death metal band elaborated on the single, saying, “It took a little longer than we expected, because we’re idiots, but we’re back again – this time with a big honking tribute to east coast style death metal.” The band’s bassist, Chris Ryan, humorously painted a picture of the song: “Imagine Dehumanized, Internal Bleeding, Dying Fetus, and Suffocation riffs played by the dumbest people in the world while wearing oven gloves and you have this single.”
Reflecting on their year, Party Cannon shared that the song “Improper Use Of A Speculum” has been a part of their festival performances. Ryan mentioned, “If you caught us on our mammoth festival tour during the summer where we played a large number of big fests we had no business being on, then you may have already been subjected to this song live. While our IQs may have hit new lows with this song, we’ve also reached some new heights – this song has the fastest blastbeat we’ve ever recorded as well as the henchest ultra slam.”
The interestingly named track has its roots in a real-life experience, as Ryan revealed, “a major misunderstanding [during a] very minor medical procedure I was booked in for which my bandmates found particularly hilarious.” The music video for the song was filmed during the band’s performances at Wacken Open Air in Germany and Tolminator in Slovenia, capturing the essence of a Party Cannon live show, described as “dumbocity.” Party Cannon hinted at more upcoming tours to be announced soon, urging fans to join them for an exuberant experience.
