A captivating exhibition titled ‘Harvest’ is set to debut at The Courtyard Gallery, located at The National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park. Showcasing the artwork of Hearth participants, the exhibition is a culmination of creativity and talent.

Hearth, inaugurated in 2009 within Co Mayo, is a distinct arts initiative that reaches out to older individuals facing isolation or confinement due to various circumstances. This groundbreaking program revolves around personalized one-on-one workshops conducted weekly by adept artists in the cozy confines of the participants’ residences.

In its essence, Hearth is committed to fostering an environment where people of all ages and situations can delve into their creative side. Engaging in diverse artistic mediums, the program not only encourages personal expression but also paves the way for meaningful connections to blossom. It envisions a world where each individual discovers the artist within, with creativity acting as a guiding light on their unique journey.

The importance of artistic expression in combating loneliness, elevating spirits, and enhancing lives is evident through the Hearth project. It serves as a testament to the transformative power of the arts in uplifting the human spirit, regardless of one’s phase of life.

The upcoming exhibition at The Courtyard Gallery showcases the work of fourteen participants, alongside pieces crafted by Hearth artists and mentors. It serves as a platform to highlight the collaborative and enriching journey embarked upon as part of this visionary project.

Grateful for the generosity of Creative Ireland, Arts and Health, and the Mayo County Council Arts Service in 2024 and 2025, Hearth remains indebted to these partners for their unwavering support. This collaboration ensures that creativity continues to reach those who need it the most, making a meaningful impact on homes and hearts, one step at a time.

Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, is scheduled to officiate the opening of the exhibition on Friday, November 7th. All individuals are invited to partake in this celebration of creativity and artistic expression.

As the curtains rise on ‘Harvest’, the audience is invited to witness the profound beauty and creativity unleashed by the Hearth participants. Through this exhibition, the power of art to inspire, uplift, and connect individuals at every stage of life is vividly portrayed.
