Jelly Roll is currently enjoying his first-ever tour of Australia, which is seen as a major milestone in his career development. After facing restrictions that prevented him from performing internationally in the past due to legal issues, the celebrated musician has been enthralling fans at various locations in Australia. His performances have been a highlight at the Strummingbird Festival held in Queensland, Newcastle, and Perth, as well as other shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, and the Harvest Rock festival.

Throughout the tour, Jelly Roll has been in high spirits, sharing moments of his journey, including a recent amusing incident during a shopping trip. In an Instagram Story he posted on November 5, he recounted a humorous encounter at a Louis Vuitton store in Sydney. With a smile, he described how the staff treated him as if they were anticipating a robbery. In a light-hearted manner, he shared, “The Louis Vuitton in Sydney, legitimately just treated us like we were finna come in and rob that place. I have never been looked at more like a crim… Listen, the last time I was looked at like a criminal this bad, I was an actual criminal this bad.”

At 40 years old, Jelly Roll has made significant progress since his troubled youth, marked by various drug-related charges dating back to his early teens. In June 2024, he announced his first international tour dates with performances in Canada after revealing on Howard Stern’s show how his past record had hindered him from booking overseas shows.

Despite the initial hiccup at the luxury store, Jelly Roll seems to be thoroughly enjoying his time in Australia. He has engaged in light-hearted discussions with locals about temperature conversions, captured memorable moments at iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, developed an interest in Australian football, and even partook in the local custom of a “shoey”—drinking from a shoe.

As his Australian adventure unfolds, Jelly Roll is scheduled to perform at two more venues, including a show at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville on Thursday and another at the Outer Fields at Western Springs in Auckland, New Zealand, on Saturday. The energy surrounding the tour reflects Jelly Roll’s personal growth and the promising opportunities that lie ahead as he embarks on a new phase in his career.
