Journey reveals Final Frontier Tour for 2026
Journey’s Final Frontier Tour has been officially announced for 2026, marking a huge North American trek for the band starting in February. The tour is expected to continue into 2027, with tickets set to go on sale next week. The band has been quite busy in recent years, including a 50th-anniversary tour with special guests Toto, a summer stadium run alongside Def Leppard, and the release of their latest studio album, “Freedom,” in 2022.
“Freedom,” the band’s first studio album in over a decade, was released in July of 2022. Led by guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain, alongside Narada Michael Walden, the album boasts 15 songs that run over an hour in length. The album reached No. 17 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and was anchored by the hit single “The Way We Used to Be,” with four additional singles following suit.
Notably, tensions surfaced last year when Cain reportedly left the band, sparking rumors of the upcoming tour being Journey’s farewell. However, Neal Schon clarified in a social media post that Cain’s departure was to focus on his ministry, and he remains an active member of the band. The band’s recent social media post asking fans for song requests for their upcoming tour sparked excitement, cementing the notion that Journey has more to offer in the years to come.
In a recent interview with Eddie Trunk, Neal Schon expressed optimism about the future of the band and his relationship with Cain. He indicated that after a year off, both members are back on the same page, hinting at a positive and united front for the upcoming tour. Journey, founded in 1973 by Schon, has seen various changes over the years, with Cain joining in 1980 and becoming an integral part of the band’s dynamic.
A lawsuit filed by Cain in 2024 alleging mismanagement and excessive spending by Schon further underlines the complexities within the group. These legal troubles showcase the challenges behind the scenes of the band, contrasting the upbeat energy and nostalgia they bring to their fans. Through it all, Journey continues to evolve and captivate audiences, with their Final Frontier Tour promising to be a memorable experience for fans, old and new alike.
