Posdnuos stated, “Step to us with a Goliath, we got a David right here,” as their verses seamlessly blend together, showcasing some of the first posthumous rhymes from Trugoy.

Explaining the title of their album, Posdnuos revealed that “Cabin in the Sky” was inspired by the 1943 musical film of the same name starring luminaries like Ethel Waters, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington. The album was crafted in the aftermath of Dave’s passing, with Posdnuos sharing how they aimed to keep Dave’s spirit alive by celebrating his life and contributions to the music they created.

“Cabin in the Sky” is part of Mass Appeal Records’ Legend Has It… series, which honors icons in New York hip-hop. De La Soul follows artists like Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, and the late Big L in releasing their project as part of this series. Nas, the label’s founder, is set to close out the series with a collaborative album with DJ Premier, adding to the lineup of legendary releases.
