Melbourne’s own Greystone Canyon has breathed new life into the realm of classic rock with the release of their latest single, a passionate rendition of Thin Lizzy’s Suicide, out now on November 7, 2025. This track provides a glimpse into their upcoming album Something Borrowed…Something New, set to drop on December 5, 2025 through Rockshots Records. This release signifies a significant moment for the band as they move towards a more organic and authentic recording process.

For Greystone Canyon, Suicide serves as a tribute to Thin Lizzy’s frontman, Phil Lynott, and the everlasting impact of the band’s music on generations of musicians. Lynott’s mastery of melody, storytelling, and dual-guitar dynamics laid the groundwork for modern hard rock, a legacy that Greystone Canyon aims to honor with their rendition of Suicide. Keeping the essence of Lizzy’s melodic core intact, the band infuses their unique gritty, blues-infused energy into the track.

By opting to record live in the studio without the aid of digital enhancements or metronomes, the band prioritized capturing raw energy over achieving perfection. The result is a dynamic and authentic performance that showcases the camaraderie and chemistry among the band members. This approach hearkens back to a bygone era when albums were not just pieced together but played in real-time.

Lead vocalist Darren Cherry emphasized the importance of maintaining an honest and authentic approach to creating music. He expressed, “This is our most genuine work to date – real instruments, real performances, all captured live in one room. We wanted to remind listeners of the energy and impact that only true rock bands can generate together. It’s all about that pure, unfiltered energy and we had an absolute blast putting it together.”

Something Borrowed…Something New lives up to its title by blending original tracks like Drives Us, Friend Of The Fox, and Stealing Our Freedom with carefully selected classics from rock legends Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, UFO, ZZ Top, and Neil Young. Rather than relying solely on nostalgia, Greystone Canyon uses these covers to highlight the musical lineage that influences their sound while also asserting their own distinct identity and creativity.

The album was produced by Greystone Canyon and engineered by Joel Taylor at Melbourne’s Black Lodge Studio, demonstrating the band’s continual growth and evolution. With their previous record Iron & Oak reaching #18 on the Australian iTunes Hard Rock chart and dominating college radio stations in North America, Greystone Canyon has solidified their reputation for delivering high-energy, authentic rock music that pays homage to its classic roots.

Since their inception, Greystone Canyon has upheld a commitment to staying true to their musical influences such as Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, and UFO. Lead singer Darren Cherry’s background includes performing with Paul Di’Anno’s Australian touring band in 2024, adding to the band’s credibility and experience. Together with long-standing members Richard Vella, David Poulter, and Sham Hughes, Greystone Canyon’s musical prowess focuses on tone, feel, and melodic strength.
