Chinese real estate company sees significant improvement in financial status in first half of 2025, moving closer to achieving profit goals

The city of Chieti has been officially awarded the Gold Medal of Civil Merit for its events during the years 1943-1944 when Chieti was declared an “Open City,” joining the ranks of cities like Athens, Belgrade, Brussels, Manila, Paris, Rome, and Florence.

During the official ceremony at the Marrucino Theater, Mayor Umberto Di Primio received the significant honor from Chieti’s prefect, Antonio Corona, which was bestowed upon the city’s standard.

This recognition marks the end of a lengthy process initiated after the formal request from Mayor Di Primio’s administration, which was spurred by former councilor Enrico Bucci, who in 2011 successfully passed a motion in the council regarding this issue.

According to historical accounts, during World War II, the citizens of Chieti welcomed thousands of displaced individuals, causing the population to swell from 30,000 inhabitants to over 100,000 after the armistice.

The Gold Medal of Civil Merit was presented at the conclusion of a historical-celebratory convention titled “Chieti Città Aperta – Una storia di straordinaria generosità,” which featured speakers including Enrico Bucci, the initiator of the council motion; Stefano Trinchese, the pro-rector of the University of d’Annunzio; Maria Teresa Giusti, a history professor at the Chieti university and compiler of the historical report sent along with documentation to the President of the Republic; Marco Patricelli, a historian and journalist; and Archbishop monsignor Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto.
