The Dreams On Toast Tour’s second leg kicked off on November 7th at Warehouse Live Midtown in Houston, continuing the party that UK band THE DARKNESS had started earlier. Irish hard rocker MARK DALY opened the show with a bluesy, energetic set that left the crowd pumped. Daly and his band performed a solid 8-song set, including tracks from their recent release ‘Devil’s Arms’, ending with the crowd-pleaser “I Wanna Be More”. It was a fantastic start to what promised to be an electrifying evening.

As a longtime music contributor and manager of KNAC.COM, Larry Petro had seen a vast array of bands but had yet to catch THE DARKNESS in action. Finally, he got the opportunity to see them live as they brought their ‘Dreams On Toast Tour’ to the United States. Although not classified as heavy metal, THE DARKNESS brought a unique mix of hard rock and pop to the stage, often drawing comparisons to QUEEN due to frontman Justin Hawkins’ flashy performances. With guitarist Dan Hawkins, bassist Frankie Poullain, and drummer Rufus Tiger Taylor, son of QUEEN legend Roger Taylor, the band had a solid following and was eager to hit the road again.

As THE DARKNESS took the stage at Warehouse Live Midtown, the atmosphere was set for a rock ‘n’ roll extravaganza. Justin Hawkins, donned in a cowboy outfit, engaged the audience right from the opening songs, creating an electric connection. The band played a mix of tracks from ‘Dreams On Toast’ and ‘Permission To Land’, ensuring a dynamic performance. Audience participation was key, with Hawkins interacting with fans and even sharing his guitar with them. Drummer Rufus Tiger Taylor also had a moment in the spotlight, showcasing his vocal talents. The spirited set culminated with fan-favorite “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” before ending the night on a high note with “I Hate Myself”, leaving the crowd thoroughly satisfied.

With the remainder of the tour stretching through November and concluding in Denver, CO, fans on the West Coast have the chance to catch THE DARKNESS in action. Their live shows promise a rock ‘n’ roll party that music enthusiasts wouldn’t want to miss. So, if the tour stops near you, be sure to join the celebration and experience THE DARKNESS live in all their glory.
