OutKast, White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, and Salt-N-Pepa Inducted into Rock Hall of Fame at Memorable Ceremony
At the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony held at L.A.’s Peacock Theater, fans would have been thrilled to witness the iconic White Stripes reuniting after 16 years. Additionally, OutKast was expected to perform for the first time since their 2014 reunion tour, and Bad Company hoped for one last performance with Paul Rodgers. However, the night took an unexpected turn when Meg White was a no-show, OutKast skipped their performance, and Bad Company had to do without the planned lineup.
Despite these unexpected changes, the evening did not disappoint. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame pulled off another superb show by enlisting musical heavyweights like Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Doja Cat, and Missy Elliott, among others. Furthermore, famous personalities such as David Letterman and Stevie Wonder graced the stage to honor inductees like Salt-N-Pepa, Jack White, Soundgarden, and Cyndi Lauper.
In a touching moment near the end of the ceremony, Cyndi Lauper expressed her appreciation for the trailblazing women who paved the way for artists like herself. She emphasized the unity and transformative nature of rock and roll music, a sentiment she believes can still change the world.
The event began on a high note with Stevie Wonder delivering a medley of Sly Stone hits, symbolically recognizing Stone’s genius and influence. Bad Company, a notable inductee, was formed during the musical explosion of the 1970s. However, the band faced challenges in recent years due to the loss of key members like Mick Ralphs and health issues faced by lead singer Paul Rodgers.
For the spectators, the highlight was a musical tribute with Simon Kirke, a member of Bad Company, appearing alongside Joe Perry and others for a high-energy performance. Kirke, filled with gratitude, acknowledged the band’s legacy and dedicated the night to his longtime collaborator, Paul Rodgers.
Missy Elliott, a 2023 inductee, also took the stage to introduce Salt-N-Pepa, the first female hip-hop group to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Elliott paid tribute to their groundbreaking music and fearless attitude, emphasizing the trio’s pivotal role in shaping the genre and inspiring a new generation of artists.
Despite the absence of some expected performances, the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was a celebration of musical excellence and an acknowledgment of the transformative power of rock music. The event served to highlight the enduring impact of legendary artists and pave the way for future generations.
