A recent car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, captured by surveillance cameras, has been officially declared a terrorist attack by the government. This tragic incident claimed the lives of twelve individuals and inflicted severe injuries on others, with initial investigations uncovering significant internal damage. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently scrutinizing a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad group, gathering DNA samples from the alleged driver’s mother.
The newly disclosed CCTV footage exhibits the exact moment a Hyundai i20 erupted in flames near the iconic Red Fort, stunning the bustling streets of Old Delhi. The video shows the vehicle rapidly succumbing to the flames, disintegrating within seconds, resulting in scattered debris and flames spreading across the road. The intensity of the explosion was so immense that nearby cars were engulfed and severely harmed, creating chaos in the teeming street.
In response to this horrific event, the government swiftly denounced the Red Fort car blast as a terrorist act. During a cabinet briefing, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw condemned this “heinous terrorist incident” perpetuated by anti-national forces through a car explosion near Red Fort on November 10th. Following a review by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the ongoing investigation, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met to assess the incident.
The car explosion near the Lal Quila Metro Station resulted in twelve fatalities and numerous injuries. Initial post-mortem analyses revealed severe injuries that included multiple fractures and head trauma. The blast’s impact caused significant internal injuries, leading to ruptured lungs, eardrums, abdominal organs, and severe lacerations indicating violent physical displacement due to the blast’s force.
Reassuringly, forensic experts confirmed that no traces of splinters were discovered on the bodies or clothing of the victims, and they are working to identify the explosive used through laboratory analysis. The injuries sustained were primarily concentrated on the upper body, head, and chest. Concurrently, the FSL gathered DNA samples from the mother of Dr. Umar Un Nabi, identified as the alleged driver of the i20 car involved in the explosion.
Amidst the investigation, the NIA has formed a specialized team to probe the Delhi car blast, believed to be orchestrated by a recently uncovered Jaish-e-Mohammad module. The team, comprised of senior officers of the Superintendent of Police rank and above, aims to conduct a thorough and coordinated investigation into this tragic incident, offering hope for a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
