“Squeeze’s latest album ‘Trixies’ revisits early songwriting style”
Squeeze’s upcoming album, ‘Trixies,’ takes a nostalgic journey into the past. Scheduled for launch on March 6, 2026, this album showcases a collection of songs penned by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook back when they were just 19 and 16 years old, respectively. These tunes were inspired by a make-believe nightclub named Trixies and mark the onset of their collaborative songwriting efforts. Unearthed from an old cassette, these tracks will now see the light of day in CD and vinyl formats.
Reflecting on the early days of their musical journey, Difford shared, “We fully committed ourselves to songwriting but this was three or four years before we even got to make our first record.” At that time, they lacked the musical experience necessary to record the songs properly, making this rediscovery all the more special.
Prior to the album’s official release, fans can immerse themselves in the album’s lead single, “Trixies Part 1,” offering a glimpse into the compelling narrative woven throughout the record. Offering a sneak peek into the tracklist, the album features a melodic exploration through songs such as “What More Can I Say,” “You Get The Feeling,” “The Place We Call Mars,” and many more.
Tilbrook expressed his awe at revisiting these original compositions, stating, “The songs that we wrote then astound me. I’m proud of them now, and I’m particularly proud that it was young us that did that. These are very much the same songs that we wrote then. The only difference is that now I can teach the songs to the rest of the band. Back then, I didn’t even know what the names of the chords were!”
In addition to working on this album, Squeeze is currently touring across Europe and the U.K., showcasing their musical prowess to audiences worldwide.
