Iration and Maoli Release New Single “Roots” Today
Hawaii’s Iration band and California’s Maoli collaborate on a fresh single titled “Roots,” set to debut on Nov. 14, 2025, via Three Prong Records. The track, recorded in Los Angeles, boasts heavy bass rhythms intertwined with laid-back, infectious melodies that result in a soulful and memorable tune. The lyrics of the song pay homage to the artists’ deep connections to their Hawaiian roots, reflecting their upbringing in Hawaii and their profound love for the land and its inhabitants.
The song encapsulates the essence of having a humble origin and the journey of self-discovery, with lyrics like “Just a young kid, from a place nobody’s heard of, Out in the country, where you get what you deserve, And it’s a long road, when you grow up in the Valley of the Kings, Chasing California dreams…Them roots, yeah they grow a long way down.” These lines narrate the experience of coming from a remote location, striving for success, and ultimately staying grounded despite pursuing dreams far from home.
Micah Pueschel, the vocalist and guitarist of Iration, whose family history intertwines with Maui for three generations and faced tragedy with a former homestead lost in a fire in Lahaina, expressed his thoughts on the new single. Pueschel shared, “We’ve embraced various musical styles over the years as a band, but we always find solace in our origins. Growing up in Hawaii has profoundly impacted our music, memories, and identity throughout our musical journey. ‘Roots’ embodies our desire to stay connected to our roots. Featuring a talented Hawaiian artist like Maoli on the track was an incredible experience. Maoli’s rising star status and remarkable vocal talent shine through in this collaboration.”
Glenn Awong, known as Maoli, hails from the north shore of Maui and has gained recognition for breaking musical barriers in 2025 with his transcendent artistry. The unity between Iration and Maoli on “Roots” symbolizes the fusion of their Hawaiian heritage, musical influences, and shared musical vision. The collaboration showcases Maoli’s prowess as a rising star in the reggae and country music genres, bringing a fresh perspective and unique sound to the track.
The release of “Roots” marks a significant moment for both artists, highlighting their dedication to honoring their cultural roots and crafting authentic music that resonates with audiences. Through this collaboration, Iration and Maoli continue to celebrate their shared Hawaiian identity, musical passion, and commitment to creating meaningful and influential art that stands the test of time.
