Rumors began circulating a few months back about the impending retirement of Oques Grasses, a highly popular Catalan-speaking band. The news was confirmed last Sunday, revealing that the group would bid farewell to their fans with a final concert at Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium on October 10, 2026.

This announcement was met with excitement and surprise, as no other Catalan-speaking band had attempted to fill the massive stadium’s over 50,000 seats for a solo concert before. Previous events had been held at the Palau Sant Jordi, which could accommodate 16,000 attendees. Despite the daunting task ahead, Oques Grasses managed to sell out their first show in a groundbreaking 21 minutes, leaving tens of thousands of eager fans still in the queue.

A second concert was quickly announced to accommodate the overwhelming demand, with all 50,000 tickets for the additional show on October 9 selling out in just 19 minutes, mirroring the frenzied rush of the first sale. Surpassing past records, Oques Grasses had sold over 100,000 tickets for their farewell concerts, setting a new milestone in Catalan musical history.

The response from fans was unprecedented, with thousands left empty-handed and clamoring for more opportunities to see their favorite band live. In a surprising move, Oques Grasses announced two more concerts to be held at the Olympic Stadium on October 5 and 7, with tickets set to go on sale the following Monday at noon.

If the band manages to sell out these additional shows, they will not only surpass any previous record in Catalan music but also match the impressive feat achieved by Coldplay in 2023, when the British band sold out the same venue four times in a week, attracting a total of 225,000 concert-goers.

The anticipation is high as fans eagerly await the chance to secure tickets for the newly announced concerts. With the potential to make history once again, Oques Grasses stands on the brink of solidifying their legacy as one of the most popular and successful Catalan-speaking bands of all time.
