Soulive drops new single featuring Van Hunt: “Flowers at Your Feet”
Soulive has just released their latest single, “Flowers at Your Feet,” featuring GRAMMY® Winner Van Hunt, and it is making waves in the music scene. The Woodstock, New York-based trio consisting of guitarist Eric Krasno, organist Neal Evans, and drummer-producer Alan Evans, have been at the forefront of the Hammond-organ format for over twenty-five years. Known for their tight, soulful interplay, Soulive is back with their first full-length album in 15 years titled “Flowers,” set to be released on January 30, 2026, through Flóki Studios.
The new single, “Flowers at Your Feet,” is a beautiful tribute to music legends Sly Stone, Brian Wilson, and D’Angelo, blending elements of soul, funk, and psychedelia. Van Hunt’s contributions to the track add a kaleidoscope of Clavinet riffs, Mu-Tron bass lines, and stream-of-consciousness lyricism that pay homage to the musical visionaries who have shaped the modern sound. The song is a celebration of these influential figures and a meditation on their impact, particularly in light of recent losses like that of soul icon D’Angelo.
Van Hunt shared his experience working on the track, stating that the song was inspired by Sly Stone and Brian Wilson’s legacies. As he recorded the song, he drew from the joy and reverence that these pioneers instilled in him, channeling their energy into the music. The track serves as a heartfelt ode to the innovators who have laid the groundwork for contemporary music, with Van Hunt expressing his gratitude to Soulive for helping keep their legacy alive.
Throughout their career, Soulive has been a bridge between various musical worlds, seamlessly blending jazz, rock, hip-hop, and soul. Their early recordings and releases established them as more than just a cult act, and they went on to open for iconic artists like The Rolling Stones and Dave Matthews Band, solidifying their crossover appeal while maintaining their jazz scene credibility.
After a period of quiet, Soulive is making a triumphant return with “Flowers,” their first full-length album in over a decade. Recorded at Flóki Studios in Iceland—a remote and inspiring location—the album captures the trio’s renewed focus and creative energy. The sessions were characterized by spontaneity and collaboration, with most of the album being written on the spot, allowing the trio’s chemistry to shine through.
With “Flowers at Your Feet” and their upcoming album “Flowers,” Soulive continues to push boundaries and explore new musical territories while paying tribute to the legends who have influenced their sound. The innovative trio proves that after more than two decades in the industry, they are still capable of creating fresh, engaging music that resonates with audiences old and new.
