Bryan Adams unveils new photo exhibition “SHOTBYADAMS” in Los Angeles
Bryan Adams recently launched a new photography exhibition, Shotbyadams, at the Leica Store & Gallery Los Angeles from the 17th of November to the 1st of December 2025. The exhibition features a curated collection of Adams’ photography that underscores his focus on emotional authenticity and the human experience. Adams brings the same level of dedication to his photography as he did to his music career, which had its roots in Canada in the late 1970s and later gained global recognition with albums like Cuts Like A Knife and Reckless.
Shotbyadams delves deep into the essence of humanity through portraiture, capturing subjects from various realms such as entertainment, fashion, and the arts. Adams’ poignant images of Amy Winehouse take center stage in the exhibition, demonstrating his desire to provide solace to Winehouse during a tumultuous period of public scrutiny. Another notable portrait in the showcase is that of Queen Elizabeth II, captured at Buckingham Palace, showcasing Adams’ talent for capturing candid moments behind formal facades. Through these photographs, Adams explores the evolving concepts of fame and the intricate dynamics between performers and their audiences.
Adams notes that the project mirrors his continuous quest for genuineness. He emphasizes the importance of trust between the artist and the subject in photography, where every portrait is crafted with careful attention to mood, lighting, composition, and emotion. Adams acknowledges Leica’s role in supporting his creative journey, with a longstanding partnership that has nurtured his evolution as a photographer. Shotbyadams encompasses a range of photographs, including black and white compositions, colorful images, and pieces from his In Colour series that utilize silver gelatin prints mounted beneath colored plexiglass.
The exhibition builds upon Adams’ rich history in the visual arts. Notably, he photographed Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 to commemorate her Golden Jubilee, with one of his portraits later featured on Canadian postage stamps. Additionally, a portrait of the Queen and Prince Philip can be found at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Adams has been honored with three Lead Awards in Germany for his exceptional fashion photography, with the most recent award received in 2015. He also established and contributes to the Berlin-based Zoo Magazine, showcasing his talent in original photography.
Throughout his career, Adams has showcased his work at prestigious venues such as Somerset House in London, the Royal Ontario Museum, and Kunsthalle Mainz. His first photographic retrospective, Exposed, was published in 2012 by Steidl. Previous projects include American Women in 2005, a collaboration with Calvin Klein to raise funds for cancer research, and Made In Canada in 1999, supporting breast cancer initiatives. His 2013 publication, Wounded – The Legacy Of War, shed light on the experiences of soldiers wounded in contemporary conflicts. Moreover, Adams has lent his photographic expertise to international brands like Hugo Boss, Montblanc, Converse, and Jaguar.
In 2021, Adams was entrusted with photographing the 48th Pirelli Calendar, capturing iconic artists such as Iggy Pop, Cher, Rita Ora, and others during sessions in Los Angeles and Capri. Additionally, he has contributed to album covers for acclaimed musicians like Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, and others. Shotbyadams broadens the scope of Adams’ creative journey by offering a profound exploration of vulnerability and individuality in both public and private spheres. The Leica Gallery Los Angeles welcomes visitors to explore this captivating exhibition from Monday to Saturday, ensuring a holistic and immersive experience in Bryan Adams’ exceptional artistry.
