Chappell Roan recently headlined the rock-heavy Corona Capital 2025 festival in Mexico City, revealing she was unexpectedly nervous about the response but was pleasantly surprised by the crowd’s positive reception. Being the sole pop headliner at an event dominated by rock acts like Foo Fighters and Linkin Park, Roan expressed her concerns about whether the audience would connect with her music.

Despite her apprehension, the singer-songwriter was overwhelmed by the warmth and support she experienced during her performance. Following the show, she took to Instagram to share her thoughts, confessing, “I was quite nervous for Mexico City because I wasn’t sure if the crowd would vibe with me because it’s such a rock leaning festival and I was like, will ppl still like me if I’m pop? (sic)” However, Roan emphasized how appreciative she was of the audience’s enthusiastic response and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to perform.

Roan’s performance at the festival marked a significant moment in her career, as she navigated a challenging year that involved struggles with her mental health. Despite these obstacles, she found renewed purpose in her music and the impact it had on her fans. During a show in Pasadena, she candidly shared her journey of self-discovery and the realization that her music served as a source of joy and comfort for the LGBTQ+ community.

Reflecting on her experiences, Roan acknowledged the transformative power of her music, stating, “Last year, I was really questioning, ‘Why am I doing this to myself? I’m so sad. I feel so left out in public. I feel so awkward all the time’. And I always felt like, ‘Why am I putting myself through this? If this feels so, if this is taking so much away from me, what is this for?’”. However, through her performances, Roan rediscovered her purpose in bringing joy and acceptance to her fans, particularly those who identified with the LGBTQ+ community.

Grateful for the support she received from her devoted fans, Roan expressed her deep appreciation, acknowledging the significance of her headline show at Corona Capital 2025. She addressed her audience, affirming that they were all welcomed and celebrated, emphasizing that her music was a platform for inclusivity and acceptance.
