Multi Grammy-nominated UK rock group IDLES is set to make a triumphant return to Belfast for what promises to be their most significant show in Northern Ireland on Wednesday, August 26th at Custom House Square, where they will be accompanied by special guests, CHALK.

Established in Bristol in 2009, IDLES has been hailed as “one of the most thrilling and innovative bands active today”. With two chart-topping albums in the UK, they have transitioned from underground darlings to a globally recognized, GRAMMY-nominated force.

The band’s influence now spans the globe. During their recent tour in the U.S., they headlined at Forest Hills Stadium in New York, a testament to their growing international reputation. At Glastonbury, IDLES delivered a commanding headline performance on the Other Stage, where Banksy revealed an inflatable migrant boat carrying mannequin passengers, sparking an international news frenzy.

Joining IDLES for the event will be special guests Chalk, adding more excitement to the evening. In addition to their live performances, IDLES crafted and performed the original score for Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar-nominated film, Caught Stealing, marking their venture into major film composition. Frontman Joe Talbot further explored his creative side with his podcast, Oh Gatekeeper with Joe Talbot, featuring conversations with luminaries such as Danny Brown, Julian Casablancas, and Peaches, diving into topics of art, identity, and the inner workings of an artist.

This event comes in the wake of their 2021 critically acclaimed album, CRAWLER, which garnered IDLES their first two Grammy nominations. It continues the impressive trajectory they have maintained since their explosive debut in 2017 with Brutalism, a journey marked by sold-out performances at iconic venues, an Ivor Novello Award win, and nominations for prestigious awards like the BRIT and Mercury Prize.

IDLES will be sharing the stage with artists like Foy Vance and The Proclaimers at the Belfast City Centre festival. Tickets for their show will go on sale on Friday, November 21st at 10 am on www.ticketmaster.ie.
