Classic rock musician supports singer amid critique: ‘He did well’
“Vince needs to get in shape and fix his voice first.” Sixx’s response was quick and unwavering, stating, “Did you hear him in Vegas? He sounded solid and bad [expletive].”
Earlier this year, news surfaced that Mötley Crüe had to cancel their appearance at the Boardwalk Rock festival in Ocean City, Maryland, and delay their Las Vegas residency due to health concerns surrounding Neil. It was later revealed that the 64-year-old singer had suffered from multiple strokes over the years.
In an interview on SiriusXM, Neil shared his experience, stating, “It was Christmas night, and I went to sleep. I woke up and I couldn’t get out of bed. I’m, like, ‘What’s going on?’ My left leg wouldn’t work, and my left arm wouldn’t work. So I had to get help out of bed. I couldn’t push myself up to get comfortable in bed. And slowly but surely, the sensation returned in my legs.” Further testing indicated that Neil had experienced four strokes, two of which he had not even been aware of.
Despite these health setbacks, Neil managed to perform at the Vegas residency at a commendable 95% capacity. He admitted in an interview with Eddie Trunk that there were still limitations in his performance, particularly on a large stage that required a lot of movement. However, Neil expressed his determination to adapt and improve despite these challenges.
Nikki Sixx’s unwavering support for his bandmate Vince Neil showcases the strong bond and camaraderie that exists among the members of Mötley Crüe. This display of loyalty and solidarity in the face of adversity is a testament to the enduring spirit of rock and roll.
As fans eagerly await the return of Mötley Crüe to the stage, the band’s resilience and determination to overcome obstacles serve as an inspiration to all. Vince Neil’s courage in facing his health challenges head-on and continuing to pursue his passion for music is a powerful example of perseverance and dedication. With the unwavering support of his bandmates and fans, Neil is poised to deliver unforgettable performances and prove that rock and roll truly knows no bounds.
