’80s rock band plans tour following former member’s death

Squeeze is recognized for their musical contributions both in the U.K and the U.S. Their notable hits in the U.K include songs like “Cool for Cats,” ”Up the Junction,” and ”Labelled with Love.” In the U.S., the band found success with tracks like “Tempted,” ”Black Coffee in Bed,” and ”Hourglass.”
The recent announcement of the tour comes in the wake of the passing of former Squeeze drummer Gilson Lavis earlier this month. Lavis had been an integral part of Squeeze during the peak of their popularity, joining the band in 1976 following tours with legends like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Dolly Parton.
Reflecting on Lavis’s contributions to the band, lead singer and guitarist Glenn Tilbrook expressed his admiration, stating, “Gilson was a hero to me and to all of us when he brought his knowledge to a young band. He absolutely propelled us like rocket fuel. He was so great and inventive, there is no one else like him. My thoughts are with his family.”
