Despite achieving early success and recognition in the guitar world, McRocklin faced a challenge when the era of shred music gave way to grunge. Finding himself at odds with the changing trends, he decided to walk away from his childhood record deal and eventually abandoned the guitar altogether. However, after a hiatus that lasted nearly two decades, McRocklin made a triumphant return, eager to rediscover his passion and redefine his musical identity.

Today, McRocklin is a prominent figure in the modern guitar scene, embodying the spirit of a guitar entrepreneur. He runs his own plugin company, offers guitar lessons through his teaching platform, and collaborates with fellow guitarist Hutch as part of the duo McRocklin and Hutch. With a signature guitar deal with Kiesel and plans for a new collaboration with Strandberg, McRocklin continues to push boundaries and evolve as an artist.

Reflecting on his musical journey, McRocklin credits his father for sparking his early interest in the guitar. Surrounded by classic rock and metal influences, including bands like Van Halen and Ozzy Osbourne, McRocklin’s father introduced him to chord progressions and inspired him to pursue his passion for music. By the age of four or five, McRocklin had already mastered chord changes from Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys Are Back in Town” and embarked on a journey that would lead him to become a guitar prodigy at a young age.
