Ross Electronics makes a comeback following unsuccessful JHS Pedals relaunch

Ross Electronics has made a triumphant return after an unsuccessful revival attempt by JHS Pedals in 2023. The company, originally founded by Charles “Bud” Ross in the 1970s, has now transitioned to new family stewardship under Bud’s grandson, Cameron. Bud Ross was a pioneer in the gear industry, having previously found success in the amplifier market with Kustom in the previous decade.

After JHS Pedals’ failed attempt to revive the Ross Electronics brand in 2023, the company is now embarking on a new chapter with five new Era 6 pedals introduced by Cameron. These new pedals, which include a chorus, distortion, fuzz, compressor, and phaser, have been redesigned with modern engineering while still honoring the company’s roots. Cameron expressed his excitement for leading the company, promising players refined circuits, rugged builds, and updated features to enhance versatility and performance.

The new pedals will retain their classic colors and simple aesthetics, maintaining a connection to their original design. Fan feedback has been taken into account during the development of these new builds, ensuring that Ross Electronics remains in tune with its loyal customer base.

Under the management of JHS Pedals, the initial re-release of Ross Electronics saw success with 5,400 units sold by the end of 2023. However, sales declined significantly in the following months, with only 334 units sold between January and November 2024. This downturn led to the end of JHS Pedals’ involvement with Ross Electronics, but it did not discourage the Ross family from pursuing a revival.

Looking forward, Cameron and the Ross family are optimistic about the company’s future. The official website declares, “Legends never die. They evolve. Ross pedals are officially back,” signifying a fresh start for the iconic brand. A mailing list has been established for those interested in staying informed about the impending relaunch.
