Austin-based band Voxtrot is making a triumphant return after a lengthy hiatus. The indie rock group, whose last album was released nearly 20 years ago, has announced the upcoming release of their new album, “Dreamers in Exile,” set to drop on February 27, 2026, via Cult Hero Records. The album marks a significant milestone for the band, as it will be their first release since their 2007 debut album.

Frontman Ramesh Srivastava expressed the band’s enthusiasm and optimism surrounding the new album. He shared that the decision to create a new record came about during a moment of inspiration before their last reunion tour show. Srivastava highlighted the positivity and energy that the band poured into the album, emphasizing the genuine excitement they brought to the process.

The lead single from the album, titled “Fighting Back,” exemplifies the classic Voxtrot sound while drawing lyrical inspiration from Srivastava’s time as a courier in Los Angeles following Voxtrot’s initial disbandment. The track is characterized by its catchy, propulsive melodies reminiscent of early Voxtrot, along with a rich infusion of synths that showcase the band’s creative exploration. Srivastava shared that he and bassist Jason Chronis utilized a Juno synthesizer to craft the song’s distinctive ’80s-inspired sound, evoking a sense of nostalgia and darkness that harkens back to iconic cinematic scenes filmed in Los Angeles.

The accompanying music video for “Fighting Back,” directed by Annie Gunn, offers a visual representation of the song’s themes and sonic landscape. Voxtrot has also unveiled a string of tour dates scheduled for 2026, including a highly-anticipated performance at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on April 10. Tickets for the tour go on sale on December 5, offering fans the chance to experience Voxtrot’s long-awaited return in person.

The tracklist for “Dreamers in Exile” features a diverse array of songs, each highlighting a different aspect of Voxtrot’s musical evolution and vision. From the anthemic opener “Another Fire” to the introspective “My Peace,” the album promises to take listeners on a captivating journey through the band’s sonic landscape. With tracks like “New World Romance” and “Rock & Roll Jesus,” Voxtrot showcases their versatility and mastery of musical storytelling.

Voxtrot’s upcoming tour dates span across various cities, including Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto, and more, offering fans nationwide the opportunity to witness the band’s live performances.
