anniversary year.

KMFDM, a group originating from Hamburg, known for their industrial rock and industrial metal sound, recently announced the release of their upcoming album titled “Enemy.” Set to launch on 6 February 2026 via Metropolis Records, the album will be available in 2xLP, CD, and digital formats. Already open for Bandcamp pre-order, the double vinyl edition will be shipped around the release date playing at 45 RPM. The band’s 24th full-length album, “Enemy,” precedes a European tour scheduled for two weeks later that has been described as nearly sold out by both the band and the label. A preview of the album is set to drop on 12 December 2025 with the release of the first single, “Oubliette.”

Thematically, “Enemy” follows KMFDM’s signature “Ultra Heavy Beat” concept, tackling social and political unrest through its thought-provoking lyrics. The band’s primary members, including founder Sascha “Käpt’n K” Konietzko, vocalist and co-writer Lucia Cifarelli, and long-time drummer Andy Selway, are joined by London-based guitarist Tidor Nieddu on their latest endeavor. Annabella Konietzko, a live performer known for her rendition of “Professional Killer” during their recent 40th-anniversary tour, makes her songwriting debut on the track “Yoü.”

Having originated in Hamburg in 1984, KMFDM began as a performance-art-driven industrial project founded by Sascha Konietzko before evolving into a full-fledged band. Early recordings like “Opium” and the debut album “What Do You Know, Deutschland?” set the tone for their unique sound combining drum machines, sampling, and electronic noise elements before gradually transitioning to a more guitar-focused industrial rock and industrial metal approach. During the band’s first decade, KMFDM underwent several lineup changes, with key contributors En Esch and Raymond Watts playing essential roles.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, KMFDM relocated to the United States and integrated into the Chicago industrial music scene, sharing space with bands like Ministry and others signed to Wax Trax! Records. Standout albums like “Naïve,” “Money,” and “Nihil” helped expand KMFDM’s global reach, with tracks like “Juke Joint Jezebel” enjoying placement on popular soundtracks like “Bad Boys” and “Mortal Kombat.” Following a series of successful albums released through Wax Trax!/TVT, KMFDM disbanded in 1999 after the release of “Adios,” eventually leading to the formation of MDFMK by Konietzko and Tim Sköld.

KMFDM resurfaced in 2002 with a revamped lineup, including vocalist Lucia Cifarelli, and a fresh start with Metropolis Records. A steady stream of studio albums, live releases, and remix collections has since followed, with the band consistently delivering compelling music while staying true to their industrial roots. The group’s current roster includes Sascha Konietzko, Lucia Cifarelli, Andy Selway, and Tidor Nieddu, with Annabella Konietzko featured on their latest album, “Enemy.”

In conclusion, KMFDM’s latest album, “Enemy,” promises to deliver a potent blend of their signature industrial rock sound, merging insightful lyrics with powerful instrumentals. Scheduled for release in early 2026, the album marks a significant milestone in the band’s illustrious career, solidifying their position as genre-defining industrial music pioneers.
