Violet Grohl releases first original song “THUM”
Violet Grohl, at the young age of 19, has already made her mark in the music industry by performing alongside her iconic father, Dave Grohl. Her journey into the spotlight began with impressive guest vocals at various Foo Fighters concerts and Nirvana reunions as far back as 2020 before the global pandemic struck, when she was just a teenager of 13. The year following, she collaborated with her father on a rendition of X’s “Nausea.” Fast forward to today, and Violet has unveiled her debut solo single.
Entitled “THUM,” this track is the A-side of a 7″ release that also includes “Applefish.” Currently, it appears to be exclusively available on Bandcamp, which is a fitting platform for its release on Bandcamp Friday. Approximately a year ago, it was announced that Grohl had been diligently working on her first album with Justin Raisen, a renowned producer known for his expertise at the intersection of rock and pop music genres. In an Instagram post announcing her new single, Violet hints that “THUM” is a part of this anticipated project. Expressing her excitement, she states, “I’m beyond excited to finally share a little bit of what i’ve been working on over the last year. I made these tracks with the most badass group of musicians, so happy they’re finally yours :)”
Looking at her Instagram tags accompanying the announcement, it appears that “THUM” was created with the assistance of a talented team including Raisen, Joe Kennedy, Ainjel Emme, Anthony Lopez, Julio Tavarez, and recording engineer Brad Lauchert, with mastering done by Mike Bozzi.
