P.O.D. pays tribute to The Beatles with new ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ video for 60th anniversary
P.O.D. has recently unveiled the official video for their rendition of Don’t Let Me Down, strategically released to coincide with the 60th anniversary of a noteworthy event in Beatles history.
The Beatles’ final performances in their hometown took place on December 5, 1965, with two shows at the Liverpool Empire Theatre, marking a significant moment in the band’s legacy. These concerts served as a farewell to the city that played a crucial role in shaping their musical identity and are considered pivotal in the history of modern music.
To commemorate this milestone, P.O.D. decided to offer their take on Don’t Let Me Down, a composition by John Lennon during the intense sessions that ultimately led to the creation of Let It Be. Originally recorded by The Beatles in early 1969 with keyboardist Billy Preston, the song initially served as the B-side to Get Back but was later excluded from the album by producer Phil Spector. Despite this, the track gained popularity among fans and appeared in subsequent releases like the 1970 compilation Hey Jude and later editions of Let It Be, as well as during the iconic rooftop performances that have become iconic moments in pop culture.
