As we near the end of the year, it’s a time to reflect on the amazing music that has been released throughout 2025. The sheer volume of great albums this year has made compiling a list of the top ten quite a challenging task. Each album has its own unique qualities and deserves recognition for the artistry and talent displayed. Here are my top ten albums of 2025.

At the top of the list is Messa’s “The Spin,” a record that has truly touched my soul in ways I never thought possible. Watching Alberto play live revealed layers of complexity in the solos that I hadn’t noticed before. Sara’s vocals are breathtaking, making this an epic and all-consuming album that easily claims the number one spot.

Lacuna Coil’s “Sleepless Empire” comes in at number two, with every track on the album being a powerful anthem that showcases Cristina’s soaring vocals. This album has been a go-to for me in various moods and situations, solidifying its place in the top three.

Coroner’s “Dissonance Theory” is a standout for me, especially considering the band’s long hiatus since their last release over three decades ago. Their progressive thrash sound shines through on this album, with tracks like “The Law,” “Sacrificial Lamb,” and “Symmetry” standing out as exceptional.

Blackbraid’s “Blackbraid III” captures the ferocity and intensity of their live performances while delivering brooding atmospheres and captivating melodies. The band’s live shows have left a lasting impression on me, and I can’t wait to experience their energy again.

Orbit Culture’s “Death Above Life” may not have met everyone’s pre-release expectations, but it’s undeniably a standout album with tracks like “The Tales of War” and “Bloodhound” that pack a punch. The production quality of this album sets it apart, with a guitar sound that crunches like no other.

Conjurer’s “Unself” has been described as a stunning album by many, and rightfully so. The complexity and brutality of this record make it a force to be reckoned with, showcasing the band’s talent and creativity.

1914’s “Viribus Unitis” balances brutal intensity with nuanced composition, creating a captivating listening experience that showcases the band’s emotional depth and musical prowess. This album is a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

Bleed From Within’s “Zenith” has gradually found its way into my top ten after a powerful live performance left a lasting impression. Tracks like “In Place of Your Halo” and the title track “Zenith” stand out as defining moments on this breakthrough album.

Revocation’s “New Gods, New Masters” features impeccable composition, riffs, and soloing that elevate it to top ten status. The guest appearances on this album add further layers of complexity and depth, making it a standout release.

Finally, Whitechapel’s “Hymns in Dissonance” rounds out the top ten with its powerful compositional depth and scope. This album has garnered praise for its strong qualities, solidifying its place as one of Whitechapel’s finest records. Each album on this list represents the best of 2025 in its own right, showcasing the talent and creativity of the artists involved.
