Mother accused of fabricating daughter’s disappearance to evade custody agreement
A mother in Round Rock, Texas, has been arrested for allegedly faking her daughter’s disappearance in an attempt to avoid a custody agreement. Cailin Larissa Doyle, 43, reported her 8-year-old daughter, Cadence Doyle, missing on December 5, initially claiming it was a runaway case. However, investigators soon discovered that she and another woman, Karinna Ann Robertson, 36, conspired to hide the child to circumvent an existing shared custody arrangement with the child’s father.
Authorities located Cadence safely on the same day of her reported disappearance after Robertson allegedly left her at a gas station near I-35 and Old Settlers Boulevard in Round Rock. This false report led to a massive emergency response involving numerous personnel from various state and local agencies, such as the Texas Rangers and FBI.
Sheriff Matt Lindemann expressed his concerns over the situation, stating, “When someone intentionally misleads law enforcement to conceal their child, triggering a response involving helicopters, drones, ATVs, K9s, and dozens of emergency personnel, only for it to be revealed as an attempt to avoid complying with court orders, appropriate criminal charges are both warranted and necessary.” He also expressed gratitude that the child was found unharmed.
Doyle now faces charges of misdemeanor false reporting regarding a missing child, along with felony counts of unlawful restraint and interference with child custody. Similarly, Robertson has been charged with felony interference with child custody, felony unlawful restraint, and felony child abandonment without the intent to return.
The seriousness of the situation is evident in the charges brought against the individuals involved. Misleading law enforcement and intentionally hiding a child to evade legal obligations can have significant consequences. The collaboration of multiple law enforcement agencies underscores the gravity of such actions and the resources dedicated to resolving cases involving missing children, even those that are later determined to be fictitious.
As the legal proceedings continue in this case, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of Cadence Doyle. The swift actions of law enforcement led to her prompt recovery, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated efforts to address instances of false reporting and child concealment.
In conclusion, the attempted deception and intentional misrepresentation in this case underscore the importance of upholding legal agreements and engaging in transparent and lawful custody arrangements. The safety and security of children must always be the top priority, and any actions taken to circumvent custody agreements can have serious legal repercussions. By holding individuals accountable for their actions, law enforcement aims to protect the well-being of children and uphold the integrity of custody agreements.
