The tough and resilient Boston hardcore band Blood For Blood made a significant impact in the late ’90s and early ’00s with several records released on Victory Records. Their music played a crucial role in shaping the hardcore era, alongside their labelmates. After the release of their album Serenity in 2004, the band took a long hiatus from the music scene. However, they made a triumphant return to the stage at FTC Boston last weekend, where Haywire also performed a cover of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones with Dicky Barrett. Now, Blood For Blood is back in action, creating new music, and embarking on an upcoming tour.

The band’s latest track, “You’re Gonna Have To Kill Me,” exudes a raw and authentic ’90s vibe that hardcore fans will appreciate. The song encompasses classic elements of the era, from the powerful gang-chant chorus to the aggressive production and occasional melodic vocal segments. Complete with movie quotes and lyrics that reflect enduring pain while shrugging off societal judgment, “You’re Gonna Have To Kill Me” captures the essence of old-school hardcore music. It demonstrates that even individuals with a tough exterior, like those who proudly display a Boondock Saints poster at home, can possess an artist’s soul.

Twenty-one years since their last new release, “You’re Gonna Have To Kill Me” marks Blood For Blood’s debut track on Roadrunner Records, their new record label. In the upcoming year, the band will hit the road for a series of US shows alongside Skinhead, the oi-hardcore project known for their standout album It’s A Beautiful Day, What A Beautiful Day. Fans can catch Blood For Blood and Skinhead at various venues across the country, including Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Cambridge, Los Angeles, Berkeley, and Detroit. Additionally, the band is set to perform at the Netherlands’ Revolution Calling Fest on November 20th.

The reemergence of Blood For Blood with their latest single and tour announcement signifies a revival of their hardcore spirit and a continuation of their influential musical legacy. With their unapologetically gritty sound and uncompromising attitude, the band remains a force to be reckoned with in the hardcore music scene. Fans eagerly anticipate the opportunity to witness the intensity and passion of Blood For Blood’s live performances as they make their long-awaited return to the stage.
