Bob Dylan reveals 2026 tour schedule
Bob Dylan has recently announced his 2026 tour dates, marking a return to the stage in continued support of his album ‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ released in 2020. The iconic musician will kick off his tour on March 21 at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha, Nebraska, and conclude the tour on May 1 at Abilene Auditorium in Abilene, Texas. Tickets for these shows will be available for sale starting on December 12 at 10 AM local venue time.
In recent years, Dylan has solidified his position as a lasting figure in American music. Following the release of ‘Triplicate’ in 2017, an ambitious three-disc collection of American standards, Dylan took a deep dive into classic pre-rock pop repertoire. Delving into works by legendary musicians like Irving Berlin and Rodgers and Hart, Dylan embraced a weathered vocal style that resonated with critics for its emotional depth. After the success of ‘Triplicate’, Dylan once again shifted his focus to original songwriting, surprising fans with ‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ in 2020. This album featured the 17-minute historical reflection ‘Murder Most Foul’, which notably topped the Billboard Rock Digital Songs chart. ‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ was applauded as one of Dylan’s strongest late-career works, steeped in American folklore, surrealism, blues, and themes of mortality, showcasing Dylan’s unparalleled literary voice.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dylan continued to maintain a consistent presence on the touring circuit, up until the forced hiatus in 2020. During this period, he released archival material such as ‘Springtime in New York’, which highlighted his early-’80s sessions, and expanded his Bootleg Series to critical acclaim. Notably, in 2021, Dylan made significant deals involving his master recordings and publishing rights, underlining his enduring influence in the modern music landscape. Returning to live performances in 2021 with the “Rough and Rowdy Ways World Tour”, Dylan embraced a more intimate setting, showcasing his late-career work and displaying a refined vocal delivery.
Apart from music, Dylan explored visual art and writing, showcasing his iron sculptures and paintings worldwide and publishing ‘The Philosophy of Modern Song’ in 2022, a reflective exploration of songs by other artists. Maintaining a sense of mystery in the streaming era, Dylan’s sporadic archival releases and select performances have solidified his status as an American original. At the age of eighty, he remains a vibrant creative force, reshaping his legacy and influencing successive generations of songwriters.
In 2023, Dylan released ‘Shadow Kingdom’, his 40th studio album, serving as the soundtrack to the film ‘Shadow Kingdom: The Early Songs of Bob Dylan’. Recorded in early 2021, the album presents reimagined versions of his classic songs, featuring minimal percussion and emphasizing instruments like accordion and acoustic guitars. ‘Shadow Kingdom’ received critical acclaim for breathing new life into familiar tracks, with critics commending Dylan’s introspective approach and the emotional depth imbued in his vocals. Noteworthy renditions of songs like ‘Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues’ and ‘Forever Young’ highlighted Dylan’s ability to revisit his earlier works with fresh perspective and resonant authenticity.
