Billie Eilish debuts in top 10 on Billboard 200 with Live EP
Billie Eilish has made waves on the music charts with her latest release, the Live EP, which has secured a top 10 spot on the Vinyl Albums chart while simultaneously hitting a career low on the Billboard 200.
This four-song EP was launched in conjunction with Record Store Day 2025, a special event aimed at inspiring fans to support local record stores by purchasing exclusive music offerings. The Live EP has claimed the number seven position on the Vinyl Albums chart, marking Eilish’s seventh top 10 appearance within this category.
The EP features live renditions of tracks like “Skinny,” “Wildflower,” “Birds of a Feather,” and “La Mort de Ma Vie,” all originating from her previous album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. Around 20,000 copies of the Live EP were produced, and half of these copies were sold in the US during the initial week after its release.
Despite its success on the Vinyl Albums chart, Live lands at number 163 on the Billboard 200, making it a career low for Eilish in terms of this particular chart. According to Luminate, the EP managed to sell close to 10,000 copies, which ultimately determined its charting position.
In addition to the Vinyl Albums chart and the Billboard 200, Eilish has also made appearances on other Billboard charts. Specifically, she holds the 13th position on the Top Album Sales chart, stands at number 22 on the Top Alternative Albums chart, and occupies the 37th spot on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart.
While Live showcases Eilish’s musical collection and contributions, it highlights the limited exposure that exclusive physical releases can achieve. Fans have shown their support for her offerings, but the EP’s performance indicates a significant contrast between vinyl sales numbers and the larger streaming and sales figures in the United States.
Eilish’s full-length albums, such as Hit Me Hard and Soft, Happier Than Ever, and When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, have consistently outperformed her latest release on most music charts. Notably, Hit Me Hard and Soft even reclaimed the number one positions on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts during the same week.
While the Live EP boosts Eilish’s discography, it also underscores the challenges that physical releases face in reaching broader audiences compared to digital platforms and streaming services. Despite this discrepancy, Eilish’s dedicated fanbase continues to show unwavering support for her artistic endeavors, ensuring her ongoing success in the music industry.
