Langhorne Slim has recently unveiled a fresh take on his latest single “Rock N Roll”, collaborating with the Nashville-based group Lockeland Strings. This new rendition of the song incorporates strings, providing a different emotional perspective while maintaining the original essence of the track. Lockeland Strings, known for their work as a community arts organization, join forces with artists to reimagine songs alongside orchestral musicians, adding layers and complexity to Slim’s music.

The reimagined version of “Rock N Roll” is showcased in a live studio video filmed at Wilburn Street Studios in Nashville, featuring a 10-piece ensemble captured during the recording session. Producer and arranger Jordan Lehning oversaw the performance, allowing for a natural and unfiltered interaction among the musicians, prioritizing authenticity over showmanship.

This revamped version of “Rock N Roll” will be featured on Langhorne Slim’s upcoming album, “The Dreamin’ Kind”, set to be released on January 16 via Dualtone Records. The original song, released earlier this year, continues to gain traction across various radio platforms in the United States.

In addition to “Rock N Roll”, Slim recently released “On Fire”, the fourth track to be previewed from the album. Drawing inspiration from classic soul traditions while staying true to Slim’s storytelling style, these preview tracks offer a glimpse into the forthcoming record, characterized by a sense of confidence and musical diversity.

“The Dreamin’ Kind” marks Langhorne Slim’s ninth studio album and signifies a notable shift in his musical approach. Moving away from his acoustic Americana roots, Slim embraces electric guitar and full band arrangements, reconnecting with his early influences and musical upbringing. Collaborating with Sam F. Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet on production, the album boasts a larger-than-life sound that adds depth and intensity to Slim’s signature style.

Throughout his more than two-decade career, Langhorne Slim has crafted a body of work known for its sincerity and emotive storytelling. Straddling the line between folk traditions and contemporary Americana, his songwriting has always prioritized authenticity over embellishment. With “The Dreamin’ Kind”, Slim maintains these core values while exploring a more assertive and sonically dynamic musical landscape.

The collaboration with Sam F. Kiszka on this album reflects a willingness to challenge established norms and push creative boundaries. Kiszka’s background with Greta Van Fleet lends a sense of grandeur and momentum to the recordings, elevating the overall character of the album.

Scheduled for release on January 16, “The Dreamin’ Kind” promises to deliver a fresh and invigorating take on Langhorne Slim’s musical evolution. With a lineup of diverse tracks ranging from “Rock N Roll” to “Engine 99”, the album showcases Slim’s growth as an artist while staying true to his roots.
