Louisville Tourism is reveling in a year of remarkable growth and achievement in 2025, showcasing record-breaking events and significant developments in the tourism and hospitality sectors. These accomplishments serve to solidify the city’s standing as a premier global destination for travelers seeking memorable experiences.
The economic impact of tourism in Kentucky reached an impressive $14.3 billion, with Louisville contributing significantly to this figure at 30%, amounting to $4.4 billion and providing an estimated 72,000 jobs. This marked the third consecutive year of setting new tourism records, highlighting the city’s appeal to visitors from near and far.
The bourbon scene in Louisville experienced substantial growth, with the city edging closer to its target of offering 25 distinct visitor experiences by the end of the year. Several new bourbon destinations opened their doors in 2025, including Circa 1856 (Chicken Cock Whiskey), Green River Distilling Co., Pursuit Spirits (additional location on Main Street), Uncle Boojie’s Homestead, and Whistle Pig The Vault. With upcoming launches from brands like Binder’s Stash, Louisville Barrel Whiskey Co., and Von Payne Spirits, the bourbon landscape is expanding rapidly.

The Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) is undergoing a significant expansion and renovation project worth over $460 million. Upon completion, a new 350,000-square-foot, multi-purpose building will elevate KEC’s status to become the fifth-largest convention center in the United States. Additional enhancements include a revamped entrance gate, upgraded Freedom Hall seating, and renovated restrooms, enabling the center to host a wider range of events and attract larger audiences.
Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) continues to modernize and enhance its facilities, with a $1 billion project aimed at improving common spaces, security checkpoints, and overall airfield efficiency. The airport’s busy summer in 2025 saw a 3% increase in activity compared to the previous year, making it the busiest year on record for the airport.
The iconic KFC Yum! Center embarked on a $100 million renovation plan set to unfold over the next five years, with a focus on overhauling essential infrastructure, including the complete replacement of the venue’s original 250,000-square-foot roof. The Louisville Arena Authority spearheaded this major initiative to ensure that the center remains a premier entertainment destination in the region.
Ahead of the curve in tourist engagement, Louisville Tourism launched its innovative Mobile Visitor Information Center (VIC), designed to showcase the best of Bourbon City’s attractions, culinary delights, and signature experiences on the move.
