Swedish gothic rock ensemble Scheitan has unveiled their latest musical endeavor, “Wine For a Tormented Soul,” released by the Greek label The Circle Music. Available on CD since December 19, 2025, the digital version can be found on Bandcamp as of December 20, 2025. To coincide with this release, the band has debuted a music video for the opening track, “A Kiss of Death.”

With “Wine For a Tormented Soul,” Scheitan presents their fifth full-length album, following hot on the heels of their 2024 comeback album, “Songs For the Gothic People,” also distributed by The Circle Music in various physical and digital formats. This latest offering features a collection of eight tracks, including “A Kiss of Death,” “Heaven Tonight,” “Döden är helt underbar,” “Love n´ Death,” “Every Little Thing,” “Out of Here,” “Carry Me Home,” and “Dream Away.”

Leading up to the album’s official launch, several tracks were released as singles. “Carry Me Home,” “Heaven Tonight,” and “Love n´ Death” made their initial appearances as standalone digital releases through The Circle Music’s Bandcamp page throughout 2024 and 2025.

Frontman Pierre Törnkvist delved into the significance of “Wine For a Tormented Soul,” sharing insights into the album’s personal and introspective themes. He expressed, “I am eager to present the new Scheitan album to our audience. The title, ‘Wine For a Tormented Soul,’ stems from the profound impact music has on individuals facing life’s adversities. Music, for me, serves as therapy and stands as a steadfast companion during dark moments. The past decade has been arduous, marked by the untimely loss of a cherished friend and the sudden departure of my father.”

Reflecting on the pre-existing singles featured on the album, Törnkvist remarked that these tracks now take on a new dimension within the context of a complete album and a physical format.

Originating in Luleå, Norrbotten, Sweden, in 1996, Scheitan emerged as a black metal project founded by guitarist, bassist, and vocalist Pierre Törnkvist in collaboration with drummer Oscar Karlsson. Their debut album, “Travelling in Ancient Times,” was released in 1996 on German label Invasion Records. The band’s musical trajectory evolved as they ventured into melancholic gothic and ambient rock territory with their second album, “Berzerk 2000,” in 1998, and later signed with Century Media Records for their third release, “Nemesis,” in 1999.

Following “Nemesis,” Scheitan performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival in Leipzig before entering a prolonged hiatus. In 2023, the band reemerged with the single “Lost In Time,” marking the beginning of their musical resurgence. Their subsequent singles, including “Fire At Dawn,” a cover of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding,” and the track “Believe,” set the stage for their comeback album, “Songs For the Gothic People,” released in May 2024 through The Circle Music.

As Scheitan continues to navigate their musical journey, their latest album, “Wine For a Tormented Soul,” serves as a testament to the band’s enduring dedication and creative evolution.
