Danish-Swedish progressive metal band VOLA faced a significant setback after a fire erupted at Nettolager, a storage facility in Copenhagen where they stored their equipment. While the band members escaped unscathed, most of their gear fell victim to the flames.
In a heartfelt social media post, VOLA expressed the magnitude of their loss. They described how the fire consumed everything essential for the band’s operation – instruments, touring rigs, audio and monitoring systems, recording equipment, merchandise, vinyl records, and years’ worth of specialized tools crafted for their musical endeavors. The loss also included irreplaceable items, not to mention the considerable time invested in building these racks and systems.
Additionally, key crew members lost indispensable tools necessary for their work. Rebuilding even a basic live setup would involve enabling the front-of-house team to resume their work and earn a living. The collective sentiment was that the project extended beyond the band members on stage; it was a collaborative effort that encompassed everyone involved.
In response to the devastating incident, VOLA initiated a GoFundMe campaign to replace the essential gear, reconstruct the live system, and prepare for future live performances. The band emphasized that purchasing tickets, acquiring merchandise, or contributing to the fundraiser if possible would provide crucial support. They underscored the importance of sharing the fundraising page as a meaningful way to help their cause.
Formed in 2006, VOLA, comprising guitarist/vocalist Asger Mygind, keyboardist Martin Werner, bassist Nicolai Mogensen, and drummer Adam Janzi, infuses electronic elements with progressive and pop-infused metal. The band boasts a discography of four albums, with their latest release being 2024’s “Friend of a Phantom.” Despite the setback, they remain committed to their music and are slated to embark on a tour in February, including stops in Japan and Australia.
