The House of Blues in Houston was the place to be on December 11th for a night of intense music with ACCEPT and QUEENSRYCHE headlining the Volume & Vengeance Tour. Despite a chaotic leading up to the show, the bands delivered unforgettable performances that showcased their legendary status.
ACCEPT took the stage without an opener and immediately set the tone with songs like “The Reckoning” and “Restless And Wild” from their latest album Humanoid. Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann’s birthday added a special touch to the evening, with a surprise birthday cake presentation during their set. The band powered through classic tracks like “Metal Heart” and “Fast As A Shark,” ending their set with the iconic hits “Pandemic” and “Balls To The Wall.” The German metal legends left a lasting impression with a visually striking stage setup and a high-energy performance that thrilled the audience.
Following a quick changeover and the sounds of BLACK SABBATH’s “Mob Rules” heralding their entrance, QUEENSRYCHE burst onto the stage with “Queen of The Reich,” setting the atmosphere on fire. Their setlist was a perfect blend of old and new, seamlessly blending classics like “Walk In The Shadows,” “Take Hold Of The Flame,” and “Jet City Woman” with newer tracks like “Arrow Of Time” and “In Extremis.” Frontman Todd La Torre led the band through a dynamic performance, showcasing his vocal prowess and stage presence. The band’s stage setup, complete with a massive backdrop, added to the grandeur of their performance.
Tracks like “I Don’t Believe In Love,” “NM 156,” and “Eyes Of A Stranger” kept the energy high throughout their set, culminating in a powerful encore featuring “Neue Regel,” “I Remember Now,” “Anarchy-X” and “Revolution Calling.” Despite La Torre’s admission of fatigue post-show, his performance was flawless, leaving fans in awe of his talent.
