Iconic Brit Alt-Rock Band Anticipates Eighth Album

The Kooks, the cherished British alternative rock group, is already preparing for their next chapter, with lead singer Luke Pritchard hinting at the band’s upcoming eighth album. In a conversation with The Sun, Pritchard disclosed that he is currently in the process of recording the new album, revealing, “I’ve already begun recording it and have completed the first few tracks.”

Having recently dropped their latest album, “Never/Know,” in May 2025, The Kooks have witnessed substantial success with this release. The album achieved their highest chart position in 17 years, climbing to the fifth rank on the UK charts. Their 2008 album, “Konk,” had previously secured the number one spot. Reflecting on the positive reception to “Never/Know,” Pritchard expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I feel very invigorated by the response. It felt like a resurgence. It motivated me to create more music.”

Hinting at the style of the new music, Pritchard mentioned, “The initial version is going to be a stylish rock ‘n’ roll album, leaning slightly towards the psychedelic genre…There’s one particular song that has me extremely excited.” Regarding the timeline, he revealed that the band would engage in more extensive recording sessions in January, asserting, “There is a plethora of untapped potential the band possesses.” Pritchard did not disclose the exact release date of the new album.

Going into 2026, The Kooks have a packed schedule, kicking off their European tour in February with a performance in Luxembourg, followed by appearances in Antwerp, Paris, and Brussels. With nearly daily performances scheduled for February, the tour will wrap up in Lisbon on March 6. Additionally, a pivotal moment awaits the group at the end of January to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Inside In/Inside Out,” which features some of their most iconic tracks like “Naïve,” “She Moves in Her Own Way,” and “Sofa Song.”

Discussing the lineup for the tour in celebration of the album’s anniversary, Pritchard shared, “We’ll cover most of the tracks from the first album and include some songs that are rarely performed…I want to present the fans with their lesser-known favorites.” In addition to “Inside In/Inside Out” and “Never/Know,” The Kooks have released five other albums, namely, “Konk,” “Junk of the Heart,” “Listen,” “Let’s Go Sunshine,” and “10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark,” along with a compilation album and several EPs.
