Singer from the ’70s and ’80s set to drop new album inspired by lunar calendar
British singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, known for his immense popularity in the 1970s and ’80s music scene, is gearing up to release a new album in 2026 that follows a unique schedule based on the phases of the moon. His upcoming album, titled “o/i,” serves as a sequel to his Grammy-winning 2023 release, “i/o.”
In an unconventional move, Gabriel has revealed that each track from “o/i” will be unveiled during the full moon of each month, starting on January 3 with the debut of the single “Been Undone.” By the conclusion of the year, fans can look forward to the full album being available for their listening pleasure. As part of this lunar-inspired concept, Gabriel has also mentioned that there will be two different versions of each song – a “Dark-Side” and a “Bright-Side” mix. The “Bright-Side” renditions will correspond with the arrival of each month’s new moon.
In an intriguing twist, it has been reported by Ultimate Classic Rock that each song will be accompanied by its own distinct piece of visual artwork. The cover for “Been Undone” showcases a creation by Brazilian artist Janaina Mello Landini called “Ciclotrama 156 (Palindrome).” This artwork is described as an intricately mirrored composition centered around a knot, allowing viewers to perceive it both forwards and backward as a visual and structural palindrome.
