Music legend Peter Gabriel has commenced the year 2026 with a bang by announcing the release of his new album, **oi**, along with the debut single “Been Undone.” This much-anticipated project is scheduled to align with special lunar events, with the release of “Been Undone” coinciding with the first full moon of the year, known as the Wolf Moon, on January 3, 2026. Crafted, written, and produced by Gabriel himself, “Been Undone” was brought to life at Real World Studios in Bath and The Beehive in London, with the Dark-Side Mix expertly executed by his longtime collaborator Tchad Blake.

Gabriel shared his excitement and insights surrounding the new album, stating that he is thrilled to kick off the full moon releases under the banner of **oi**. Reflecting on the future and the impending technological transformations brought about by the rise of AI, quantum computing, and the brain-computer interface, Gabriel acknowledges the profound impact these waves of change will have on humanity. Embracing his role as an artist, he views his music as a mirror held up to the complexities and challenges of our evolving world.

Detailing the thematic layers of his upcoming album, Gabriel describes how the songs encapsulate a mix of emotions and introspective musings. The album’s title, with the acronym **oi**, symbolizes the fluidity between internal contemplation and external expression, inviting listeners to explore their sense of self in a world characterized by interconnectedness. He emphasizes the need to recognize our intrinsic connection to nature and each other, advocating for moments of joy, love, and communal celebration to guide us in finding our place in the grand scheme of things.

Building on the visual-art tradition established with his previous album **i/o**, Gabriel plans to pair each track on **oi** with a dedicated piece of artwork. For “Been Undone,” the chosen artwork is Ciclotrama 156 (Palindrome) by renowned São Paulo-based artist Janaina Mello Landini. Exploring the intricacies of physical and mathematical systems, Mello Landini’s work weaves together individual elements into sprawling, interwoven structures that reflect the complexity of existence.

Fans can anticipate the gradual rollout of **oi** throughout the year, with each full moon marking the release of a new track. The album’s distinct offerings, including Dark-Side Mixes and Bright-Side Mixes, promise a diverse listening experience. Tchad Blake will handle the Dark-Side Mixes for each full moon release, while Mark ‘Spike’ Stent will unveil the Bright-Side Mixes on the corresponding new moons. By year’s end, the full album will be complete, showcasing Gabriel’s multifaceted musical vision for **oi**.
