Peter Gabriel’s debut single from his new album ‘o/i’ is out now
Peter Gabriel has recently released his first single from his upcoming album ‘o/i’. Titled “Been Undone”, this track serves as the lead single for the new album, following his previous album ‘i/o’ released in 2023. Gabriel has announced his plan to unveil a new song from ‘o/i’ with each full moon throughout the year, with the complete album set to be released by the end of 2026. Additionally, the album will feature both Dark-Side and Bright-Side mixes, which will be handled by Tchad Blake and Mark “Spike” Stent, respectively.
“Been Undone (Dark-Side Remix)” is currently available through various digital platforms for fans to enjoy. Similar to the release of ‘i/o’, each new song from ‘o/i’ will be accompanied by a piece of distinct artwork. For the single “Been Undone”, the artwork titled Ciclotrama 156 (Palindrome) has been created by São Paulo-based artist Janaina Mello Landini.
Gabriel expressed his excitement about including Landini’s artwork in the project, stating, “The first artwork is a special piece from Janaina Mello Landini. The way she takes the rope and moves it out, unravelling it, is almost like fractals or tree trunks and looks like the brain in some ways too, so I see a lot of entry points.” He added, “I am delighted that Janaina is willing to participate and be part of the process. We are using one of her existing images for this month to open the whole proceedings but I’m excited that she’s now going to create a piece, especially for the song.”
The release of “Been Undone” marks the beginning of an exciting musical journey for Peter Gabriel and his fans. With the promise of new songs and accompanying artwork to look forward to with each full moon, the anticipation for the complete album ‘o/i’ continues to build. Stay tuned for more updates and releases from this iconic artist throughout the year.
