Taylor Swift has made history once again with her hit song “The Fate of Ophelia,” which has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive nine weeks. This new achievement surpasses her previous record held by “Anti-Hero,” which reigned for eight consecutive weeks back in November 2022. The track is the lead single from Taylor’s latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which also had an impressive run at the top of the charts for eight weeks before holiday songs took over during the Christmas season.

During the festive season, Mariah Carey’s classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” extended its record-breaking run on the Billboard Hot 100, along with other popular Christmas tunes like “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Last Christmas,” “Santa Tell Me,” “Feliz Navidad,” and “White Christmas.” However, with the holiday season coming to an end, “The Fate of Ophelia” quickly climbed the charts from No. 29 to claim the top spot, solidifying Taylor’s new record.

Fans of the pop icon are ecstatic about this milestone as “The Fate of Ophelia” marks Taylor’s 13th Billboard No. 1 hit, a significant achievement tying her with music legends Michael Jackson and Drake as artists with the fourth-most chart-toppers, trailing behind Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and the Beatles. Other chart-topping hits from Taylor include popular songs like “Blank Space,” “Cruel Summer,” “Shake It Off,” and “Look What You Made Me Do.”

Despite the nine weeks of dominance by “The Fate of Ophelia,” it falls short of Mariah Carey’s 22-week reign with “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” However, even non-holiday tracks like “A Bar Song Tipsy” and “Old Town Road” have had lengthy stays at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, showcasing the enduring popularity of these songs.

Locally, “The Fate of Ophelia” made a strong debut on the Philippines Hot 100 chart in October 2025, where it claimed the No. 1 spot alongside another track from Taylor’s album, “Opalite.” While it only held the top spot for one week, the song continued to perform well alongside other hits like Cup of Joe’s “Multo.”

As of now, “The Fate of Ophelia” has spent a total of 12 weeks on the Philippines Hot 100 chart, currently sitting at No. 8 as fitterkarma’s “Pag-Ibig ay Kanibalismo II” takes over the top spot for the new year. Taylor Swift’s remarkable success with “The Fate of Ophelia” marks yet another milestone in her illustrious career, solidifying her status as one of the most successful artists in music history.
