Peter Gabriel releases debut single from upcoming album

Peter Gabriel has kicked off 2026 by treating fans to new music with the release of his latest single, “Been Undone.” This track is the first glimpse into his upcoming album, o/i, serving as a follow-up to his 2023 release, i/o. Gabriel shared that some of the songs on this album will tie into the brain project he has been exploring over the years, while others simply bring him joy.

The musician plans to unveil new singles from the album throughout the year, with each track coinciding with the occurrence of a full moon. Similar to his previous album release strategy, these singles will lead up to the full album launch by the end of 2026. Additionally, fans can anticipate Dark-Side and Bright-Side mixes to accompany the release.

Listeners can already stream and download “Been Undone (Dark-Side Remix)” on various digital platforms. Each new song will not only be accompanied by music but also a unique piece of artwork. The cover art for “Been Undone” titled Ciclotrama 156 (Palindrome) is created by São Paulo–based artist Janaina Mello Landini, adding a visual dimension to Gabriel’s musical offerings.

Gabriel expressed his excitement about collaborating with Landini, praising her talent for visually representing concepts like fractals, tree trunks, and even the brain. In his statement, Gabriel mentioned, “We are using one of her existing images for this month to open the whole proceedings, but I’m excited that she’s now going to create a piece, especially for the song.
