Chicago artist Joe Glass, a member of Kai Slater’s Sharp Pins, has recently unveiled his latest lo-fi power-pop album titled Snakewards on Hallogallo Tapes, a label belonging to the lifeguard associate. Available in cassette form, this release feels fitting for the raw and authentic nature of the music.

On his Instagram account, Glass characterizes Snakewards as “13 scrap-rock sketches straight from the heart to the gut.” He ponders, “Maybe we can hold onto rock’n’roll for just a little longer? Who can say.” These tracks truly embody this sentiment, infusing their catchy melodies with a nervous and vibrant energy reminiscent of bands like the dB’s or Undertones. There is also a touch of the playful experimentation seen in Elephant 6 and the essential anthems and ballads evocative of GBV. The album’s breadth allows it to unfold like a diversified scrapbook, filled with various musical snapshots.

Snakewards is now available through Hallogallo Tapes for purchase, giving fans the chance to delve into Glass’s musical world with its eclectic mix of influences and distinctive sound.
