VIAL, a band based in Minneapolis, has been using their punk music platform to voice their political beliefs since their inception. Today, the group is excited to announce the release of their upcoming album, Hellhound. However, their attention has been somberly diverted due to a tragic event that unfolded in their hometown. In a heartfelt statement, VIAL expressed their shock and grief over the fatal shooting of a neighbor by federal immigration officers.

The band’s statement read, “Today was supposed to be the day we were supposed to tell you about our new record HELLHOUND, but our minds are now 100% on our neighbor who was shot and killed by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis yesterday. This was NOT self-defense. This was MURDER. FUCK ICE! Please donate to the Go Fund Me if you have the means, and watch out for your immigrant neighbors. Love you all.” The victim, identified as Renee Nicole Good, was 37 years old. The proceeds from the Go Fund Me campaign will go towards covering funeral expenses and providing financial support for her wife and son. According to her social media account, Renee was a multifaceted artist, working as a poet, writer, and guitar player.

Stereogum echoed VIAL’s sentiments, standing in solidarity with the band’s stance against this senseless act of violence. Despite the somber mood that has overshadowed their album release, VIAL still shared a single from Hellhound, titled “Never Been Better.”

The tracklist for Hellhound includes a mix of powerful and thought-provoking titles such as “Infected,” “Scorpio Moon,” “Creep Smoothie,” “Idle Hands,” “Sob,” “Never Been Better,” “Hellhound,” “Undermine Me,” “Blah,” “Puke,” “Talktalktalk,” “Boredom/Combustion,” and “Blood Red.” Fans can catch VIAL live on their upcoming tour dates across various cities such as Minneapolis, Boise, Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles, and more.
