Dolly Parton, the iconic Queen of Country music, is approaching her 80th birthday but will unfortunately not be present at a planned celebration at the renowned Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.

Despite her absence, the “9 to 5” singer warmly conveyed her sentiments in a video message shared on the Opry’s Instagram page, reminiscing about her treasured moments on the Opry stage. She expressed her love and best wishes to all attendees, signaling a heartfelt connection to the event, which is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, just preceding her actual birthday.

The birthday festivities are set to include a variety of delightful elements for fans to enjoy. Guests attending the daytime tour of the Opry House can indulge in birthday cupcakes while being offered the opportunity to sign a “larger-than-life” birthday card dedicated to Parton. Additionally, a Dolly Parton impersonator will be available for photo sessions, along with specialty themed drinks and special tributes during the Opry show by popular country artists such as Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill, Rhonda Vincent, and Trannie Anderson.

Parton’s absence may stem from ongoing health concerns that have surfaced in recent months, prompting her to skip several planned appearances, including her Las Vegas residency. In an October Instagram post addressing speculation about her health, she assured her fans that she was not facing a terminal illness, but rather focusing on her well-being. Parton candidly shared her struggle to maintain good health while caring for her late husband Carl Dean, who passed away in 2025 at the age of 82.

Expressing gratitude for her fans’ unwavering support, Parton acknowledged her health challenges during the Dollywood Hall of Fame induction in November, where she expressed deep regret for being unable to attend. Despite her setbacks, she remains committed to her well-being, prioritizing regular treatments and care at the Vanderbilt Hospital while taking time to recuperate.

While Dolly Parton may be physically absent from the upcoming birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry, her spirit and legacy continue to resonate with fans worldwide. Her enduring impact on country music and unwavering dedication to her craft serve as a testament to her remarkable career, solidifying her place as a beloved and enduring icon in the music industry.
