Timothy Busfield surrenders to police, denies allegations in new video
Actor Timothy Busfield has recently turned himself in to authorities after an arrest warrant was issued against him. The actor has vehemently denied all allegations of child abuse and criminal sexual contact with a minor. Busfield surrendered to New Mexico law enforcement, following a call he received on Friday night that prompted him to seek legal counsel and travel over 2,000 miles to confront what he claims are “lies.” In a video released by TMZ, Busfield asserted, “They’re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys, and I’m gonna fight it. I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated because this is all so wrong and all lies.”
The 68-year-old actor expressed gratitude for the support he has received, stating, “I love everybody for supporting me, thank you.” Despite the serious allegations against him, Busfield remains hopeful that he will prove his innocence and return to work soon. The U.S. Marshals had joined the search for Busfield, who was wanted in New Mexico on charges of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse.
According to reports from Albuquerque Police Department (APD), Busfield is accused of inappropriately touching 11-year-old twin boys while working on the series “The Cleaning Lady” in 2024. During his time on the show, which lasted four seasons until 2025, Busfield allegedly formed a close relationship with the boys. One of the children reported multiple incidents of inappropriate touching starting when he was seven years old, with alleged incidents occurring when he was eight years old as well. The complaint filed by one of the children’s mothers spanned from November 2022 to spring 2024 when the abuse is said to have taken place.
Notably, Busfield’s wife, Melissa Gilbert, who starred in “Little House on the Prairie,” appears to have removed her personal social media in response to the headlines. Her business account, Modern Prairie, remains active. Busfield’s situation has garnered widespread attention, with the actor maintaining his innocence and expressing a determination to clear his name and return to his career. Despite the serious nature of the charges against him, Busfield remains resolute in his belief that he will be vindicated, as he continues to gather legal support to fight the allegations levied against him.
