The much-anticipated Calabash South Africa 2026 music festival has been called off following Muse’s withdrawal from their scheduled performances in several countries, event organizers revealed.

The British rock band had to cancel their shows in the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and India due to unforeseen circumstances. With limited time and the intricate logistics involved in putting together a large-scale touring stadium festival, organizers were unable to secure a replacement headliner in time, Big Concerts shared on Wednesday morning.

The cancellation affects both festival dates: February 7 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg and February 11 at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.

In an official statement, Muse expressed their regret over the situation, stating, “Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we will be unable to proceed with the upcoming scheduled shows.” They added, “This has been a very difficult decision and one we did not take lightly. We’re truly sorry to everyone who purchased tickets and appreciate your understanding. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. We hope to be back with you again very soon.”

Supporting act Simple Plan also voiced their disappointment at the festival’s cancellation. The Canadian pop-punk band expressed sadness over missing the opportunity to perform for their fans in South Africa and share the stage with Muse, A Day To Remember, and Nothing But Thieves. They hoped for another chance to perform with them in the future.

Ticket holders for the festival, including those who purchased parking and park & ride tickets, will automatically receive full refunds. The refund process has already commenced and should reflect in accounts within 5-10 business days. Ticketmaster will reach out to customers directly if payment details need updating.

Organizers acknowledged the disappointment felt by fans, artists, and everyone affected by the cancellation, expressing gratitude for the understanding shown during this challenging time.
