Fleetwood Mac’s iconic song “Landslide” has achieved a significant milestone this week by debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after being featured in the finale of the popular Netflix series “Stranger Things.” This marks a remarkable 50-year gap between the release of the song in 1975 and its debut on the Billboard chart.

The classic studio version of “Landslide” made its entry at No. 41 on the Hot 100 chart, as reported by Billboard. The song saw a surge in popularity with 7 million official U.S. streams, a 43% increase week over week, 888,000 radio audience impressions, showing a 10% increase, and 1,000 downloads sold, up by 15% between January 2 and 8. The series finale of “Stranger Things,” which featured the song, was released on December 31.

Originally a track on Fleetwood Mac’s self-titled 10th studio album with vocals by Stevie Nicks, “Landslide” was never released as an official single during its original run. However, a live version was later released as a single in 1997, eventually peaking at No. 51 on the Hot 100 in July 1998. Over the years, cover versions of the song have also enjoyed chart success, including The Chicks’ rendition in 2003, reaching No. 7, and the “Glee” version performed by Gwyneth Paltrow in 2011, peaking at No. 23.

This latest achievement with “Landslide” marks Fleetwood Mac’s 26th entry on the Hot 100 chart, showcasing the band’s enduring popularity over the years. Notably, Fleetwood Mac has managed to debut on the Hot 100 chart in five different decades, spanning the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, and now the ’20s, solidifying their status as a timeless musical act.

This resurgence of “Landslide” is reminiscent of the band’s previous success with their 1977 hit “Dreams,” which re-entered the Hot 100 in 2020 following a viral TikTok video. The track climbed to No. 12 on the charts in October of that year, showcasing the enduring appeal of Fleetwood Mac’s music across generations.

Overall, the reappearance of “Landslide” on the Billboard Hot 100 is a testament to the lasting impact and relevance of Fleetwood Mac’s music, resonating with both long-time fans and new audiences. The song’s resurgence serves as a fitting tribute to the band’s timeless artistry and enduring legacy in the music industry.
