Pennsylvania-based deathcore stalwarts The Last Ten Seconds of Life have recently unveiled details surrounding their upcoming, eighth studio album titled The Dead Ones, scheduled to drop on April 17. This release will mark a pivotal moment for the band as it serves as their inaugural offering under the esteemed Metal Blade Records banner, bringing forth what may very well shape up to be their most unapologetically intense and deeply introspective musical endeavor to date.
The Dead Ones is described as a potent and profoundly personal record that sees the band leaning further into their distinctive deathcore roots with a heightened sense of precision and aggression. Produced by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland of Atrium Audio in Pennsylvania, the album places a heavy emphasis on delivering an overwhelming sense of physical impact.
Guitarist Wyatt McLaughlin sheds some light on the album’s direction, focusing on the meticulous attention given to the guitar, bass, and drum tones, as well as the mix and master. The result, according to McLaughlin, is an explosively dense sonic output that exudes a titanic, “rolling-tank”-like quality.
Featuring an impressive roster of guest vocalists hailing from various corners of the modern extreme metal spectrum, The Dead Ones promises thrilling collaborations. David Simonich, of Signs Of The Swarm fame, appears on the track “Make It To Heaven,” while Nate Johnson, former frontman of Fit For An Autopsy, lends his voice to “Rat Trap.” Additionally, Alan Grnja from Distant can be heard on “Dollar To A Dime,” and fans will be excited to hear former The Last Ten Seconds of Life vocalist Storm Strope making his return on the track “XXXXXXXXXX.”
In the process of crafting the album, the band took stock of their musical journey and legacy, drawing from insights gained during the creation of their past two releases to create a body of work that reflects their evolution and musical strengths. Later this month, The Last Ten Seconds of Life will embark on a North American Winter tour alongside Left To Suffer, spanning three weeks from January 22 in Atlanta, GA, to February 22 in Dallas, TX. Additional support will be provided by Fr3ak, as well as Your Spirit Dies and LarcɆnia RoɆ on select dates.
