On the external front, The Window Guys Cleaning Service, a local business in Macon, has taken the initiative to disinfect playground equipment at schools free of charge. Using a powerful soapy disinfectant, the business aims to clean every playground in the district, ensuring that students have a safe outdoor environment to enjoy when schools reopen.

Chris Belflower, the founder of The Window Guys Cleaning Service, saw the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity to give back to the community. He stated that the forced downtime provided the perfect chance to contribute positively and make a tangible difference in the lives of students and teachers. The cleaning of the playground equipment is scheduled to be completed by April 4, coinciding with the end of the district’s spring break.

Governor Brian Kemp’s executive order on March 26 mandated the closure of Georgia’s public schools until at least Friday, April 24, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The closure has provided the community with the time and motivation to come together and ensure that students are welcomed back to safe, clean, and sanitized learning spaces.
