Danish post-metal juggernauts Møl have recently unveiled their latest single “Crush,” a towering track from their upcoming album Dreamcrush, slated for release on January 30th via Nuclear Blast Records. The band is gearing up for an extensive headline tour across the UK and Europe in February.

“Crush” joins the ranks of previously released singles “Garland” and “Young,” adding depth to what is anticipated to be Møl’s most immersive and emotionally charged record yet. Guitarist Nicolai Busse describes the song as a reflection of the band’s constant pursuit of striking a balance between beauty and devastation.

According to Busse, “‘Crush’ encapsulates the dichotomy we as a band always have sought to balance. The journey between melancholy and jubilee, uplifting beauty and devastation… an acceptance of the many grey days, the mundane – and the possibility of growth hidden within them.”

This emotional dichotomy resonates throughout Dreamcrush, a thematic exploration of the fine line between aspiration and disillusionment, and the way dreams can both inspire us and consume us silently. Musically, the album showcases Møl’s ability to infuse soaring alt-rock melodies with their edgiest, most raw undertones, resulting in a potent and emotionally resonant body of work.

Following their well-received albums Jord and Diorama, Dreamcrush showcases the band’s evolution, drawing inspiration from iconic acts such as My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, and Smashing Pumpkins while maintaining a distinct sound that is uniquely their own. Thematically, the album touches on ideas of belonging, resilience, and inner peace across the 11 tracks.

Recorded over several months at Frederik Uglebjerg’s Aarhus studio, Dreamcrush was shaped slowly, allowing room for reflection and experimentation in its creation. Vocalist Kim Song Sternkopf explores a deeper baritone range, delivering lyrics in both Danish and English that delve into past experiences with a raw vulnerability.

The emotional impact of the album is further heightened by Busse’s poignant guitar solos, complemented by abstract artwork from Daniel Owen (Nemesis Design) and photography by Rolf Meldgaard that visually echo the album’s thematic exploration of dreams, reality, and reconciliation. Pre-orders for the album are now available.

In conclusion, Møl’s latest single “Crush” sets the stage for what promises to be a compelling and emotionally charged album in Dreamcrush. With their unique blend of post-metal and alt-rock influences, Møl continues to evolve and solidify their place as visionary artists in the genre.
